This "Tiger-Cat" variant was manufactured in the Empoli region of Tuscany, Italy, circa 1960.
Made from the famous emerald-green glass traditional to the region, coloured by the unique iron-rich sands of Tuscany. Unlike hand-blown Murano glass, this was produced using a pressed mold technique, resulting in the distinctive textured "fur" and detailed facial features. This style was widely exported to the US and UK under prestige import labels like Rossini and Alrose. As is common with Empoli glass of this era, it was originally sold with paper/foil labels rather than an etched stamp.
Rarity: The 23cm version is less common than the standard 36cm model and is highly sought after by collectors looking to complete "Cat and Dog" sets or size-graded displays.

Common Empoli Cat Faces
The "Tiger-Cat": Features stylized, embossed whiskers and a slightly wider, rounded face. This is often associated with the Rossini import line. The "Sleek" or "Siamese" Cat: A narrower, more pointed face with simpler features. This version usually has less "fur" texture on the head and a more elongated neck. The "Whimsical" Face: Occasionally, you'll find versions with more exaggerated, almost cartoon-like eyes and a very pronounced nose.

Condition: Minor age-related wear. Includes the original matching glass head stopper with its original flexible plastic gasket still intactessential for preventing glass-on-glass chipping.
