This is a classic piece of South African heritage kitchenalia, commonly referred to as a braai skottel. It is designed specifically for serving barbecued meat, keeping it warm while transferring it from the coals to the dinner table. The set features a nostalgic cream-coloured enamel finish accented by a forest green rim and matching green handles.
MATERIAL: Enamel-coated steel.
COLOUR: Cream with Green trim and handles.
SKOTTEL DIMENSIONS: 31cm (diameter) x 9cm (height).
LID DIMENSIONS: 30cm (diameter) x 7cm (height).
DESIGN: The lid is specially designed to fit securely within the inside-rim of the skottel to retain heat.
ERA: Estimated production from the 1950s or 1960s.
GOOD VINTAGE CONDITION. As is typical with genuine mid-century enamelware, there is visible chipping to the enamel finish in several areas, particularly along the rims and handles. However, the set remains structurally sound with no significant dents or warping, preserving its authentic retro appeal.
