This book has both an enormous amount of technical information on a whole range of fiber crafts: knitting, crochet, embroidery, tatting and much more. But it's much more than this, it's a fascinating historical document, since it was written, I think around the start of the twentieth century. This does create some limitations for contemporary eyes e.g. very very few colour images or photographs (less than 10 in total I think) but for me this was trivial in comparison to huge amount of really useful technical information and it's historical interest. All the comments about what is appropriate for "feminine hands" and remarks in a similar vein are amazing and a huge window views on gender roles in the time and place of writing. - Amazon review
