VINTAGE EARLY 20TH CENTURY 9CT YELLOW GOLD DROP DESIGN EARRINGS WITH CARNELIAN GEMSTONE AND 9ct YELLOW GOLD SPACER

These long, elegant vintage English earrings are crafted in 9ct yellow gold; featuring polished round natural carnelian spheres in a glorious, rich red. The spheres are suspended from a 9ct yellow gold chain and have an interesting design feature in the form of a 9ct yellow gold spacer inserted between the two halves of the carnelilan spheres. A highly detailed decorative, openwork cap in warm yellow gold is suspended from a chase link chain. Each earring measures 13mm wide x 58mm long, bears the 9K hallmark indicating 9ct gold and weigh a fairly heavy 9,18 grams. The closure mechanism is a screw mechanism that you turn until the earring is snug on the ear-lobe. I bought the earrings from an antique jeweller in Birmingham, England. He verified the date origin as early 20th century. A rather rare and unusual collectable piece of jewellery.
