ENGLISH VINTAGE SAPPHIRE 0,38ct SOLITAIRE & DIAMOND PENDANT ON 9CT GOLD CHAIN. BIRMINGHAM ASSAY 1989

A classic vintage English design, this little pendant features a dark blue sapphire oval cut, 0,38 carats, set into 9ct yellow gold and framed by 9ct white gold into which 10 small round cut diamonds have been claw-set. The bale and the chain are also 9ct yellow gold. It is a very simple design, quite dainty, and elegantly classy. A lovely touch is that the jeweller has crafted little "die-cuts" into the side of the pendant through the gold in order to let the light through. The pendant measure 18 mm from the top of the slender gold bale to the bottom of the pendant and 10 mm if you measure the pendant excluding the bale. The pendant width is 8 mm. I bought the necklace in London but in fact it heralds from Birmingham and dates back to 1989. The pendant has lots of hallmarks including the British crown, 375 for 9ct gold, the Birmingham assay and the date mark. The fine gold chain also bears the hallmarks for 9 ct gold.
