According to the Dutch sailors of the 18th century, the Englishmen chose to sojourn at Durban Bluff as it was then generally known, hence the name of the title. "In this account, we will meet the Settlers and Colonists, in many of their difficulties and hard experiences and also in their triumphs in the 'Old Colonial Days' of Natal... to achieve success in establishing civilised standards, bringing justice, peace, prosperity and honour to the Colony they loved so well.".
