This resetter will also reset the waste ink tank chip; however with some of the waste ink tanks it might require you to remove the chip so that you can make contact with the resetter to the chip. It is not advisable to run the cartridge completely empty because the chips can no longer be reset. When you receive the first prompt from your printer to replace the cartridge then you must reset the chip to prevent the chips memory from being erased.
