Erepsia anceps Seeds
South African Endemic
The name Erepsia is derived from the Greek erepso, I shall hide. Twenty-two species of Erepsia are known, all endemic to the Cape Flora region and typical representatives of fynbos vegetation. Unlike many other mesembs which close their flowers during the night and in overcast weather, the flowers of Erepsia species remain open. Erepsia anceps is a South African endemic species from the Western Cape Province. This eye-catching species grows into a perennial shrublet with erect branches and green or reddish-brown leaves. During summer it bears pink flowers. It is synonymously known as Erepsia laxa.
