This impressive building is a Grade 2 listed house at 149 Dorp Street Stellenbosch, part of the protected heritage area in old central Stellenbosch.
The gable is dated 1830 but the nucleus of the house dates much earlier to the 18th century.
In later years this house has been offices and the Pierneef museum.
The appearance has not changed much since 1948, apart from the roof. Beautifully painted.
Eric Pithey was a professional artist and at the back of the painting he has written his address and the original price of the painting: 20 guineas.
