Oil on board by Famous Erich Fleischman (1899-1970)  titled "After the rain" .

Frame measures 63cm x 53cm and work itself measures 50cm x38cm. Shipping R140 courier.

About the artist

Erich Fleischman was born 1899 in Riga Latvia ( Latvian SSR ) . He resided in South Africa from 1934 until his passing in 1970 . He was a painter of landscapes and seascapes and worked in oil as well as watercolour . Fleischman received painting instruction in Moscow under Tichomiroff ( b.1867 ) .

He graduated from the academy of fine art ( Odessa ) in 1921 and furthered his studies at the Studio until 1922 under Professor Erdmann ( b.1845 ) who was a member of the academy of fine art ( Berlin ) .

Fleischman was a member of the SAAA ( South African Association of Arts ) . He was a minister until 1950 and thereafter a full-time artist who resided in the Eastern Cape . He participated in over 80 group exhibitions in SA and after 1950 held numerous solo exhibitions . During his career Fleischman represented the Ann Bryant Gallery in East London , the Pretoria Art Museum as well as the Pretoria Teachers Training College . 

Most notable was his public commission to paint the backdrop mural in the East London Museum .
