Description:
Biennial or short-lived evergreen perennial. Bushy habit with dark green foliage. Clusters of bright orange flowers, freely produced in spring and early summer.

Cultivation:
Well drained, preferably neutral or slightly alkaline, soil in full sun. Will thrive in poor soils. Keep moist until established. Cutting back hard after flowering will sometimes produce another flush of flowers in summer.

Propagation:
From seed, sown in midsummer. Also by stem cuttings.

Design and Other Uses:
Late spring bedding. Attractive to insects.

Other Notes:
Probably a hybrid of E. perofskianum x E. decumbens, first raised by John Marshall, England, 1846 (not Siberia!). There is some naming confusion and it is most commonly, but incorrectly, known as Erysimum allionii. pronounced: er-RIS-ih-mum mar-SHALL-ee-eye
