Citrus × limon 'Eureka' | Classic lemons with abundant fruit and year-round appeal
The Eureka Lemon is one of the world's most popular lemon varieties, prized for its prolific fruit production, bright yellow colour and classic tangy lemon flavour. Producing medium-sized lemons with a smooth rind and high juice content, this variety fruits over an extended season, often providing multiple harvests throughout the year in favourable climates. With its attractive evergreen foliage, fragrant blossoms and reliable productivity, the Eureka Lemon is an excellent choice for home gardens and containers.
Sun: Full sun is essential — provide at least 6—8 hours of direct sunlight daily for optimal growth, flowering and fruit production.
Soil: Prefers fertile, well-drained soil enriched with compost or organic matter. Avoid heavy, waterlogged soils.
Water: Moderate — water deeply and regularly, especially during flowering and fruit development. Allow the top layer of soil to dry slightly between waterings.
Fertiliser: Feed with a quality citrus fertiliser from spring through late summer. Ensure micronutrients such as iron, magnesium and zinc are available for healthy foliage and strong fruiting.
Pruning: Light pruning after harvest helps maintain shape and improve airflow. Remove dead, damaged or crossing branches as needed.
Top tip: Eureka Lemons thrive in warm, frost-free conditions. In colder areas, protect young trees from frost and consider growing them in large containers that can be sheltered when necessary.
