Consider that: in 1895 Goerz patented the first linear movement individual focus mechanism to be used on the German DF 99 binocular and subsequently on various French military and Soviet binoculars and the U.S. Army Bell & Howell M19; designed the DF 99 and DF 03 German army prismatic binoculars as well as the Galilean Feldglas 08 - Germany’s standard WW I infantry binocular.
