Hardcover with dust jacket. Binding is solid and inside the pages are crisp. First published in Great Britain in 1958 by Hamish Hamilton Ltd. with 156 pages. Faded green boards with gilt lettering to spine. Name written on inside of front board. Foxing on inside of boards and end pages. The d/j has tears at the spine ends and along the edges. Foxing on inside of d/j and on white areas of outside. In this polished writing of Camus, the reader meets a wife betraying her husband; a missionary adoring savages who have tortured him; a trusting school teacher reaping hatred for a deed of love and others. The theme throughout is man himself. For those who love Camus's writing and for those readers who still have to meet him. No shipping overseas.
