The bigger the gem, the more striking the change of colours. Gems over 5 carats are exceptionally rare. This colour-changing gem can only be found in one location worldwide. The beauty of this royal gemstone lies in the contrast of its rich colours under different lighting conditions. Depending on the light source, Diaspore can shift from a kiwi green to purplish-pink, to khaki-green, cognac-pink, or pinkish-champagne to ginger colour. Canary flashes are noticeable in sunlight, but a rich champagne colour is seen under indoor lighting. By low lighting conditions, the same gem reveals pink to raspberry hues. Its characteristics make it an excellent candidate for mounting in jewellery.
