These Hakata dolls are very popular collectors items - they are produced in Fukuoka, the city in Japan that was the original target of the bombs that destroyed Hiroshima (it was a cloudy night over Fukuoka that night, and so the bombers were rerouted to Hiroshima where they could see the target). It is a ceramic item.
