An exceptionally rare first edition of the Omega Polaris series (circa 1988-1990) which was the pre-lude to the similar design Omega Seamaster watches that succeeded it in the early 1990s, this Omega watch has an automatic chronometer movement, in a large 41.5mm case made entirely of titanium and solid gold!
The design of this rare piece was developed by none other than the brilliant designer Gerald Genta, who was also responsible for the designs of the Audemars Royal Oak as well as the Patek Phillipe Nautilus!
The Polaris Titane XL Chronograph was the first and only of its line to be fitted with an automatic chronograph movement and screw-down pushers. This model also has a significant size increase from the mid to late 30mm range up to 41.5mm, and increased thickness for a superior look. Lastly it was given a slightly higher level of finishing and quality than the others, with more detail found everywhere from the clasp to the dial to the pushers.
