LOVELY 3,4CT BLUE TANZANITE GEMSTONE WITH BEAUTIFUL TRIANGULAR CUT

A LOVELY 3,4CT (0,68G PLEASE SEE PHOTO - MULTIPLY WEIGHT WITH 5 TO GET CARATS) BLUE TANZANITE GEMSTONE WITH A BEAUTIFUL TRIANGULAR CUT. COMES WITH A BEAUTIFUL PERSPEX PRESENTATION CASE AND VELVET BAG.

THE FOUR BLUE FACETED GEMSTONES THAT ARE MOST OFTEN SEEN IN COMMERCIAL JEWELRY ARE IN ORDER OF HOW EXSPENSIVE THEY ARE: TOPAZ, AQUAMARINE, TANZANITE AND SAPPHIRE.
Blue Topaz are the most affordable. Then comes Aquamarine which was considered sacred by the Romans and Greeks. Tanzanites are exspensive due to its rarity - The only commercial source of the stone is Tanzania and the worlds production only comes from an area that is barely 6 kilometers long and 2 kilometers wide.. Even though a tanzanite is much rarer than a sapphire, the latter is more expensive because of its beauty and eternal association with royalty.

THIS PARTICULAR STONE WAS BOUGHT IN 2011 FROM A SELLER ON EBAY WITH THE ORIGEN OF THE STONE INDICATED AS TANZANIA. IT HAS A VVS (EYE CLEAR) CLARITY WHICH MEANS IT IS FREE OF INCLUSIONS AS SEEN WITH THE NAKED EYE WHICH IT APPEARS TO BE. IT WAS ALSO SOLD AS A NATURAL AND UNHEATED GEMSTONE. I COULD NOT VERIFY BOTH OF THESE STATEMENTS THOUGH.

I AM NOT SURE IT IS A REAL TANZANITE GEMSTONE AS IT PASSED OR GAVE AN UNCLEAR ON THE TESTS I COULD PERFORM:
UNCLEAR SCRATCH TEST: IT SCRATCHES GLASS BUT NOT EASILY  IT IS HARDER THAN GLASS.
TANZANITE MIGHT IN SOME CIRCUMSTANCES BE ABLE TO SCRATCH GLASS.

(MOHS HARDNESS GLASS 5.5-6.5 TANZANITE 6.5-7.0 QUARTZ 7.0-7.5)
PASSED ELECTRON UV LIGHT EMISSION TEST: NO UV REACTION AS IT SHOULD BE. AS A SILICATE MINERAL TANZANITE SHOWS NO FLUORENCENT REACTION IT IS INERT. GLASS AND ALL QUARTZ VARIETIES ALSO DOES NOT SHOW A UV AFFECT.
(THE UV LIGHT HIT THE ELECTRONS. THEY JUMP AND FALL BACK. THEY RADIATE LIGHT OF A CERTAIN WAVELENGTH WHEN THEY DO WHICH IS SPECIFIC TO EACH ELEMENT IN THE MINERAL. THIS IS CALLED FLUORESCENCE. ONLY 10% OF GEMSTONES EXHIBIT A FLUORESCENCE AFFECT LIKE RUBIES, SAPPHIRE, TOPAZ, OPALS AND DIAMONDS. GLASS AND ALL NATURAL QUARTZ VARIETIES DOES NOT SHOW A UV AFFECT.)
UNCLEAR THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY TEST: TESTED THE THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY WITH A MIZAR PRESTIGE SERIES 2 DIAMOND TESTER. IT MOVED UP THE LADDER A LITTLE FROM STANDARD LEVEL 3 TO LEVEL 4. TANZANITE (ZOISITE) IS A SILICATE MINERAL WITH A THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY OF ONLY 0,005 AND A LEVEL OF 3 IS THE NORM FOR THIS TESTER. IT TESTED IN THE SAME RANGE AS QUARTZ WITH A THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY OF AROUND 0,02 WHICH NORMALLY GOES TO LEVEL 4 ON THE MIZAR TESTER.
(WITH THIS TESTER GLASS MAKES NO MOVEMENT.)

SIZE: 9,8mm x 9,9mm x 6,8mm

DISCLAIMER: I AM NO GEMSTONE EXPERT. THESE GEMSTONES BELONGED TO A FAMILY MEMBER THAT HAS PASSED AWAY. HE COLLECTED GEMSTONES DURING THE EARLY TWENTY FIRST CENTURY MANY WERE BOUGHT ON EBAY AND OTHERS BY TRAVELLING TO OTHER COUNTRIES. I HAVE TRIED TO VERIFY AS FAR AS POSSIBLE ANY STATEMENTS OR CLAIMS BY DOING SOME RESEARCH AND PRELIMARY TESTS ON EACH GEMSTONE.

TANZANITE:

Tanzanite is the blue and violet variety of the mineral zoisite, caused by small amounts of vanadium. It is classified as a silicate though and has a chemical formula of Ca2Al3(SiO4)3(OH).
The extraordinary gemstone was first discovered in 1967 at the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro the only known source in the world. All of the known deposits are confined to a few square miles of land in northern Tanzania. stone.
The mineral zoisite naturally occurs in a wide range of colors that include colorless, gray, yellow, brown, pink, green, blue, and violet. The name "tanzanite" is used for a color variety of zoisite that ranges from blue, through violet, to violetish purple.
Heat treatment is done to almost all of the tanzanite on the market today to improve the color. Scientists found that heating could convert some naturally brown or green zoisite into beautiful blue zoisite (tanzanite!). With the exception of a small amount of naturally blue material, heating is the source of tanzanite's desirable blue color. This treatment is widely known and should be expected by retailers and customers.
The blue color of tanzanite is caused by small amounts of vanadium within the zoisite mineral structure. When vanadium-bearing zoisite is heated to a temperature of 600 degrees Celsius for about 30 minutes, the oxidation state of the vanadium is changed and that change causes or improves the blue color.
However synthetic tanzanite is currently not known in the marketplace. As of late 2019, nobody has successfully produced and marketed synthetic tanzanite.
Tanzanite is one of the most sought-after gemstones of all time. According to a Tanzanian geologist, the circumstances that led to its formation 585 million years ago were so exceptional that the likelihood of finding tanzanite anywhere else on earth is one in a million, making it a thousand times rarer than diamonds.
With only one known source in the world, tanzanite is predicted to be depleted within 10-12 years.
