Extremely old hand made wooden domino set - made by a prisoner of war WW2

a VERY OLD HAND CARVED DOMINO SET

My Mother told me that this was given to her by a boyfriend who had been stationed in Japan during WW2 and in fact was imprisoned in a camp there, and whilst incarcerated had made this set. I have a picture of this man somewhere too, in uniform, so I believe the story to be true. My Mother taught me the game of domino's from this set when I was a child and that was + 50 years ago. Whether the provenance is true or not, the set is very old, that I know for a fact.

Length - 17cm x width 7cm x height 4.5cm - domino's are 5cm long

Condition - extremely good for something this old. There is a small chip of wood out near where the lid slides in and this weakness has caused a thin crack to start forming. A bit of glue will fix it though. I have not played the game for many years and cannot say whether all the pieces are there, there are 25 pieces?
