Faces of Fishes by Michael Loh is a beautifully produced and increasingly scarce photographic work celebrating the extraordinary diversity and beauty of tropical marine fishes. First published in 1992 by Tropical Press in Kuala Lumpur, this sought-after volume showcases Loh's exceptional underwater photography, capturing reef fishes in vivid colour and remarkable detail. More than simply a pictorial work, the book offers readers an appreciation of the incredible forms, colours and adaptations of fish species inhabiting the warm waters of Southeast Asia.
Produced during a period when high-quality underwater photography books were issued in relatively small print runs, Faces of Fishes has become difficult to obtain. Its striking full-colour images and quality production have earned it a place on the shelves of marine natural history collectors, underwater photographers, divers, aquarists and ichthyology enthusiasts alike. The combination of informative text and outstanding photography makes it both an attractive coffee-table book and a valuable reference for anyone with an interest in coral reef ecosystems.
Today, copies of the first hardcover edition are seldom encountered on the market, making Faces of Fishes an increasingly desirable title for collectors of natural history books, especially those focusing on tropical marine life and Southeast Asian publications. The original 1992 Tropical Press edition represents one of Michael Loh's most elusive works and is a worthy addition to any collection devoted to marine biology, underwater photography or rare natural history books.
