About the Book
This classic collection brings together two early anthologies edited by W. B. Yeats Fairy and Folk Tales of the Irish Peasantry (1888) and Irish Fairy Tales (1892). The volume gathers centuries of Irish legend and lore: fairies and leprechauns, the Banshee, saints and robbers, ghosts, witches, and Tir-na-nÓg. Yeats presents these stories as living expressions of Irelands imaginative landscape, preserving the richness of oral tradition and the mystery of belief.
The Sunday Telegraph hailed it for its marvellous feel for the richness of folklore, while The Irish Press praised its balance of literary care and sensitivity to the esoteric and psychic sides of human nature.
