The South African crowd stared in stunned silence as Angus Buchan proclaimed to them, this year we are going to plant potatoes! Is he crazy? Despite the crowd's reluctance, Angus Buchan knew about something stronger than the impending El Nino drought-he believed the promises of God. Angus had a faith like potatoes-a real, tangible faith that will sustain us every day. This is a true account of unwavering faith and passion for God's work through one of His most faithful followers.
Based on a book written by Angus Buchan and set in Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa: this story is about a Zambian farmer who leaves his farm in the midst of political unrest and racially charged land reclaims and travels south with his family to start a better life in KwaZulu Natal, South Africa. With nothing more than a caravan on a patch of land, and help from his foreman, Simeon Bhengu, the Buchan family struggle to settle in a new country. Faced with ever mounting challenges, hardships and personal turmoil, Angus quickly spirals down into a life consumed by anger, fear and destruction.
What a pity that this Christian-inspired potential masterpiece had to fall foul of the custoimary indifferent South African production standards! While it is still worth seeing: it could have been greater than either Fireproof, or even Facing the Giants.
Andrew Buchan, needless to say, plays himself here.
Frank Rautenbach leads a strong cast as Angus Buchan, a Zambian farmer of Scottish heritage, who leaves his farm in the midst of politocal unrest and racially charged land reclaims and travels south with his family t ostart a better life in Kwazulu-Natal, South Africa.
