**Review of Fallout 76 (Xbox One)**

### Gameplay & Mechanics
Fallout 76 takes the familiar open-world survival and role-playing formula of the Fallout series and transplants it into an always-online multiplayer environment. Set in the hills of post-apocalyptic West Virginia, players explore a vast wasteland filled with mutated creatures, abandoned towns, and remnants of pre-war society.
The gameplay focuses on scavenging for materials, crafting weapons and armor, building bases (known as C.A.M.P.s), and completing questsoften solo or with friends. The shooting and looting mechanics are recognizable from Fallout 4 but feel slightly less refined, with clunkier gunplay and inconsistent hit detection at launch (though later updates improved this somewhat).
Without traditional NPCs at release, much of the story was delivered through holotapes and terminals, leaving the world feeling empty. However, later updates like *Wastelanders* added human NPCs and branching dialogue, bringing back some of the series trademark personality and player choice.
Survival mechanics such as hunger, thirst, and radiation add tension, but they can also become tedious during long sessions. Building and maintaining your C.A.M.P. remains one of the games highlightscustomizable, portable, and highly creative.

### Modes & Features
Fallout 76 is an online-only experience. Players can freely explore Appalachia, team up for quests and world events, or engage in player-versus-player (PvP) combat. Public events like Scorched Earth and seasonal challenges help keep the world active and provide rewards.
Since launch, Bethesda has introduced major expansions:
* **Wastelanders** added human NPCs, story-driven quests, and new factions.
* **Steel Dawn** and **Steel Reign** introduced the Brotherhood of Steel storyline.
* **Expeditions** brought new missions and areas outside Appalachia.
Theres also a Seasons system for ongoing progression and rewards. Despite its rocky start, Fallout 76 has evolved into a more feature-rich experience, though it remains heavily focused on grinding and resource management.

### Graphics & Presentation
The game uses an enhanced version of the Creation Engine from Fallout 4. The environments are vast and colorful, with dense forests, eerie mines, and scenic mountains. Lighting and weather effects add atmosphere, especially during storms or when exploring at night.
However, technical performance at launch was rough, with numerous bugs, texture pop-ins, and frame rate drops. While patches have improved stability and visuals, Fallout 76 still feels dated compared to modern open-world titles. Character animations remain stiff, and environmental detail can vary from beautiful to bland.

### Sound & Music
Sound design is one of Fallout 76s strengths. The ambient music captures both loneliness and wonder, echoing the tone of earlier Fallout games. Radio stations return with period-appropriate tunes that lend charm to exploration.
Voice acting for human NPCs introduced post-launch adds much-needed liveliness to the world. Environmental effects like wind, wildlife noises,
