Jocelyn was born in Tokyo, Japan in 1932 and came to South Africa as a war evacuee in 1942.
Her Father was a professional portrait painter, etcher and cartoonist and was her earliest influence.
Educated at Roedean School, Johannesburg she studied art under Elaine Marriott and later under Walter Bartiss, Cecily Sash and the watercolourist Henri Wood.
Jocelyn's marriage to Errol Boyley in 1976 was a turning point in her life when she once again became completely involved in the world of art. Errol was her beloved companion, mentor and tutor for 32 years until his death in 2007.
