The artist here is Fazenda, who is of Mozambican-South African heritage, and who now sells his art in a dedicated African art market in an upmarket mall in Johannesburg.

Fazenda’s technique is unique: he uses oils on layers of grated chalk and fine bandages – yes, bandages! The textured effect makes his art so vibrant and so alive. This makes him an innovative artist who is much sought after by European galleries, and recently a Swiss buyer bought 30 of his paintings, she loved them so much!
