The frame and the painting is in a good condition.

The brown paper backing has no tears, but there are what seems to be some oily speckles.

Pierre Francois de Villiers (1921 – 2007) was born in 1921 in Cape Town, South Africa. He was a painter of landscapes, flowers, seascapes and wildlife and worked in oils and acrylic. In 1930 he studied privately under Maggie Laubser in Cape Town and his work is sought after in South Africa and abroad.
