The clipped jacket is otherwise whole and bright, with several small marks at the head of the spine, and a small gouge on the reverse, and some minor wear to the edges. This same gouge appears on the back board, but otherwise they are clean and square. A very small ownership stamp appears on the half title page, and has a felt-tip pen line through it that has come through the page. The top edges are lightly shelf-dusted, but otherwise all pages are clean and unmarked. "This is the true story of Francis George Farewell, who, after distinguished service in the Royal Navy during the years following Trafalgar, determined to find a landing place on the coast of Natal in South East Africa and to establish a British trading settlement in that hitherto unexplored region."
