It is with a great regret and sincere apologies to all normal people (“attention span long enough to read and comprehend sentences longer than 5 words‿) reading this that I have to open this auction with a rather blunt note:
- READ the item description carefully,
- This auction is for STRINGS, and strings ONLY, just as the auction tile and description says!
- Strings are, however, genuine FENDER and they are brand NEW.
- If you win this auction, you will receive exactly what you bid on, which is: STRINGS, and nothing else – not a bass guitar (acoustic or electric) to string them on, not a car that I use to occasionally transport my BidOrBuy items around town, not my house even though this and other BoB items reside in it most of the time.
- Let me repeat this – I don’t care how frustrated, illiterate, loud, annoying and obnoxious you are; it will not help you get anything more than STRINGS that you bid on.
- Clear?
Huh… back to the item:
Fender Nylon Tapewound, model 9120
(US actual shop price is $29.99)
If you play a 4 string fretless, electric or acoustic, then you just have to have these strings. No metallic fretboard buzz, no fretboard wear, strings last so long that you forget when you bought them and they do not change the sound AT ALL through the lifetime!
If you play the 4 string fretted electric or acoustic bass, why not give it a try? At this price and considering the incredible life expectancy of these strings, you might decide they are the next best thing! Plus, consistency of sound over the lifetime and the fact that they have lower tension than metal strings makes for phenomenal playing comfort and some serious slap sounds! They are surely tough to beat not only on treble but also on low bass.
One thing you can NOT expect from these strings is the heavy metal sound (hell, they are made of nylon! Z;-). They are too refined, clean and civilised for that…
But then again… have a look into my Behringer equipment auctions and classifieds – you can achieve ANYTHING with Bass V-AMP or Bass V-AMP PRO. Just ask a question and I’ll put up the V-AMP auction for you at the price that can not be beaten!

Difference between the Roundwound 7120 and Tapewound 9120 is that Roundwounds have a brighter, punchier sound due to the fact that they are roundwound and then precision sanded flat (polished) so they retain some characterises of the roundwound sound. Tapewounds on the other hand, are the closest anyone can get to a double-bass (upright) sound on the electric/acoustic bass guitar – no competition!
