FIRST UK EDITION, published by Elm Tree Books, 1977, hardcover, illustrated, 255 pages, some sun fading to spine otherwise condition: as new.
Rod McKuen's best book. His life was his most interesting story. And now, "Finding My Father" is the closest thing to an autobiography that readers are going to get.
I knew Rod McKuen was a good song-writer & singer. And I knew he wrote poetry, but had no idea how much and how famous his poetry books had gotten. I mainly remembered him from the old movie, "Rock Pretty Baby", which I still watch, and knew he wrote songs for a lot of popular singers for several years. So I went online to see if I could get some music from that movie and to see what he is doing now. I ordered "Finding My Father" and just finished it last night. I couldn't wait to get back to it each time I put it down, and don't want to ruin the outcome for anyone, but really was hoping it would turn out differently, even though it was so long ago. I couldn't believe how well Rod McKuen turned out considering how hard his life was when he was very young. There must be a special place in heaven for him for being such a good person inspite of everything he went through. This book should inspire anyone who reads it - I'm sure it has already inspired a lot of people.
