Fine Quality Ardabil Carpet

Size: 300 x 200 cm

Origin: Iran

Make: Hand-knotted

Type: Wool

Ardebil or Ardabil rugs come from the northern part of Iran, not far from the Caspian Sea. Typical for this type of rug are geometric patterns, which are also often found in village and nomad rugs.

Ardabil carpet has a high quality of about 90,000 to 300,000 knots per square meter. The geometric forms of the design of these carpets are from the Orient. The pile, which is made of wool, is knitted symmetrically. These thin carpets are comfortable floor coverings.

Ardabil has a long and brilliant history in Iranian carpet weaving. The reign of the Safavid dynasty in the 16th and 17th centuries marked the peak of Iranian carpet weaving in this region. The name of Ardabil is taken from the Avesta (Holy book of Zoroastrians) and literally means the high holy place. Ardabili weavers show their art with Azerbaijani knot. Two of the most famous carpets available today are a pair of Iranian Ardabil carpets.

Ardabil carpet is a pair of world-famous exquisite Iranian carpets that were woven during the reign of Shah Tahmaseb Safavid for his ancestor's tomb. Now one of them is owned by the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the other is kept in the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. This carpet is one of the most exquisite and famous carpets in the world in terms of its design and texture, which is included in the list of 50 selected masterpieces of the world. Art experts consider this carpet, with its beautiful patterns and patterns, to be a unique abstract work of art, which is equal to the abstract paintings of the present century in terms of artistic level. The central core of the group of carpets is Taranjadan.
