First pattern camo jacket - used by 31 and 32 Battalion during the early stages of the SA Bushwar. This camo was also used by the SADF Hunter Group.
During 1966 this camo uniform was also used by a selected group of the SADF and the SA Police during operation Blouwildebeest in the joint operation against SWAPO at Ongulumbashe in the former South West Africa. This was the first clash between SA military forces and SWAPO and is considered to be the start of the Bushwar.
During the late 1960's and early 1970's this uniform was also used by SA Police members who fought with the BSAP and Rhodesian Army in the former Rhodesia.
In the camo pattern there is a distinctive cactus blossom (blommetjie) or wagon wheel shape and was therefore sometimes called 'blommetjie' (flower) camo.
This is truely a collectors item for any militaria enthusiast. The jacket is in a very good condition. Size : the inside label is faded - seems to be a large or extra large - measures 62cm from armpit to armpit when the jacket is buttoned. See pictures below. International buyers : see Payment and Shipping before you bid.
