Clarence Bower, civil occupation Farrier, was killed in action at Butte de Warlencourt (an ancient burial mound off the Albert–Bapaume road) during the night of 18-19 October 1916 when “D” Company of the 3rd SA Infantry moved forward to the front line in Pearse’s Trench.
