Hi there, up for auction today I have two used Abu Garcia baitcasters, and some spares.
The charcoal coloured one is a 1003 LP and has been checked to make sure everything is doing its job.
It is in great mechanical condition and casts and retrieves really smoothly. It does have a couple of marks here and there(please see images)but these are just cosmetic and as mentioned the mechanics work great.
This reel has a magnetic breaking system.
It has 3 stainless steel bearings, a gear ratio of 6.1:1 and a line capacity of 120 yards of 12 pound line.
I am including an extra spool, which comes in handy if conditions require a lighter or heavier line. And this reel has a quick spool release which makes changing spools really easy.
I am also including an extra handle which will fit most of the smaller Abu Garcia baitbasters.
The other round baitcaster is of 4000 size, and although it is usable, it has numerous mechanical issues, but Im including it in the auction, as somebody might want to repair it or use it for spares.
This reel has the following problems:
The drag washers might need replacing as its range is very limited, and is either very tight or very loose.
The anti-reverse dog slips about a quarter turn once every 9 or so times, Ive tried to bend the little spring plate to stop this, but I think its just a bit worn and probably needs replacing.
Another thing is these reels had a drive gear screw which attached the drive gear to the break plate, unlike the little c- clip used in most reels today, and I had misplaced this screw, I did however, find a screw which more or less fits, but it has gripped when retrieving, and I suppose by putting a little washer below it or even removing the top bit of thread might sort this out. Alternatively you could order a replacement.
Also, the level wind worm gear on this reel hooked and should be replaced or removed, and fished without the level-wind(this Ill do for you before I send the reel if you like)
Anyway, as Ive stated this second reel is really for spares or repair.
