Fittonia Nerve Plant is a compact, low-growing plant with vivid, vein-like patterns running through its leaves. It's ideal for bathrooms, terrariums, or any space that needs a pop of colour and thrives with a little extra humidity.

Commonly known as: Fittonia Nerve Plant Green, Mosaic Plant

Botanical name: Fittonia albivenis

Fittonia is a vibrant and eye-catching indoor plant best known for its intricate leaf patterns, which resemble fine veins in bright coloursranging from white and pink to redagainst a green background. Compact in growth and low to the ground, Fittonias are perfect for adding texture and detail to small spaces. They are especially well-suited to terrariums, bathrooms, or grouped with other humidity-loving plants.

This is not a plant that enjoys neglectit does best in a consistent environment with steady moisture and warmth. That said, once you get into the rhythm of its care, Fittonia is an incredibly rewarding plant to grow. Its leaves will perk up dramatically after watering, and it responds well to pruning if it gets leggy or overgrown.

Fittonia Nerve Plant Green care guide

🌿 Light:
Fittonia thrives in bright, indirect light but tolerates lower-light conditions better than many houseplants. Avoid direct sun, which can fade or scorch its delicate leaves.

💧 Water:
Keep the soil evenly moist, but never soggy. Fittonia is sensitive to drying out and will wilt dramaticallybut it usually recovers quickly after a good drink. Check the soil regularly, especially in warmer weather.

🌱 Soil:
A light, airy mix that retains moisture without becoming compacted is best. Use our Aroid Mix, or blend Barks Unlimited Potting Soil with Perlite for good aeration and drainage.

🌡 Temperature:
Ideal indoor temperatures range from 1826°C. Fittonias dislike cold air and draughts, so keep them in a stable, warm area.

🌸 Fertiliser:
During spring and summer, feed once a month with an organic fertiliser or use a controlled release fertiliser to encourage lush growth.

🪴 Repotting:
Repot only when the plant becomes root-bound or the soil breaks down. Use fresh soil and consider adding bark chips for structure.

🐛 Pests:
Generally pest-resistant but may attract fungus gnats in overly wet soil. Treat with insecticidal spray if necessary and allow the topsoil to dry out between waterings.
