Sarah Danes Jarrett was born in the UK in 1964 and moved to Africa at an early age. Having lived for the most part in Southern Africa, her work embraces a perception of bold vibrance and imaginative colour in her subject matter.

Educated in Harare, Sarah qualified with a diploma in Graphic Design, following which, she embarked on a highly successful career in the design industry in Johannesburg. With a keen eye for perfection and detail, her work was widely regarded as some of the finest design work in Southern Africa, she won three CLIOs, the internationally prestigious Advertising and Design Awards in New York. In Europe, she won further acclaim in the form of two London International Advertising Awards.

Having achieved her primary goals in the design industry, Sarah became a mother in 1998 and set out to pursue her next goal of developing her talent by concentrating on her preferred medium of oils.

While her studies included three years of history of Art and some further artistic tutoring over the years, Sarah is primarily a self-taught artist.

A year in Europe enabled Sarah to explore her passion and dedication to figure drawing through the study of her preferred artists and works at numerous galleries in Europe including the National Art Gallery and Tate Gallery in London, the Louvre in Paris and the Uffizi in Florence.

Painting with confident brushstrokes and a dedication to colour, Sarah uses large canvases to seek freedom in her work. Her explorations, unveil nuances and mystery around her subject matter and create new dimensions in each viewing.
