Medals all named to 21912 BJ Thompson, who was an officer in the SA Engineer Corps before being seconded to the Royal Engineers. A copy of his records will be emailed to the winner, which show he served in Austria, and although he applied for a France and Germany Star, it was denied to him as Austria counted as part of the Italy Campaign. You can actually see the F&G star was scratched off his list of medals, so even the higher ups were confused. It also shows that he was recommended for either a Military Cross or a MID, but the War Department ultimately decided to give him the MID. Unfortunately, it doesn't say what he did to earn the MID, but presumably an act of gallantry if he was recommended for a Military Cross
