Nature's Triad: Fluorite, Muscovite & Tourmaline Wonder from Erongo
Size: 72mm x 46mm x 32mm Approximately
Weight: 78 gram
This stunning collector's specimen presents a dazzling interplay of emerald-green fluorite cubes, golden muscovite blades, and black tourmaline crystals, all in remarkable harmony. The sharply formed fluorite displays subtle internal zoning and translucency, while delicate, shimmering muscovite sheets cluster across the surface. Accentuating the ensemble are jet-black tourmaline prisms that provide striking contrast and depth.
Fluorite, a calcium fluoride mineral, is prized for its vivid colors and cubic formations. It forms in hydrothermal veins, especially where hot, mineral-rich fluids move through fractures in the earth. Muscovite, part of the mica group, is a silicate mineral known for its sheet-like form and pearly luster. Tourmaline, a complex borosilicate, often forms as elongated prisms in igneous and metamorphic rocks and adds both visual contrast and mineralogical value to this piece.
All three minerals were crystallized from volatile-rich fluids within pegmatitic pockets and miarolitic cavities of the Erongo Mountains, a rugged region formed by ancient volcanic and intrusive activity during the Early Cretaceous (about 130150 million years ago). Erongo's complex geology, with its evolved granites and rare-element pegmatites, makes it one of Africa's premier mineral localities.
This rare tri-mineral cluster is a geological masterpieceboth aesthetically captivating and scientifically significant.
