CONSIDERED RARE, A VINTAGE CARVED WOODEN PADDLE TOY DECORATED WITH A MEDITERRANEAN STYLED FLORAL PATTERNING. THE ITEM IS GENERALLY REFERRED TO AS A "PECKING BIRDS" PADDLE TOY WHICH CONSISTS OF FIVE CARVED WOODEN CHICKEN FIGURINES ATTACHED TO THE PADDLE TOP, EACH DECORATED IN FLORAL PATTERNING AND EACH WITH A HINGED NECK. STRINGS ARE ATTACHED TO THE HINGES WHICH THEN PASSES THROUGH SMALL HOLES IN THE PADDLE WHERE THEY ARE THEN ATTACHED TO A CARVED WOODEN BALL. THE MOVEMENT OF THE BALL UNDERNEATH THE PADDLE THEN CAUSES THE CHICKEN FIGURINES TO PERFORM A SIMULTANEOUS PECKING ACTION. THE PADDLE HAS A WOOD HANDLE ATTACHED AND THE ENTIRE TOY HAS BEEN LACQUERED
