P. H. Roodt se kreatiewe debuut maak hy met die digbundel Foma 19631971, nadat sy gedigte ook in letterkundige tydskrifte soos Standpunte verskyn het. Die titel van die bundel verwys na skadelose onwaarhede en die bundel word in vyf genommerde afdelings verdeel. Die eerste afdeling bevat liefdesverse, met veral Ons wat verdienstelik is. Die tweede afdeling is afskeidsverse, die derde bevat verse oor God en die dood en die vierde verse oor godsdiens. Die vyfde afdeling bevat twee verse as huldeblyk aan N.P. van Wyk Louw.
