A Visitor's Guide
Illustrations by Hannes Meiring
Photography by Willem Malherbe
120 pages, Paperback
Goodreads rating: 4.50 * 2 ratings * 0 reviews

Footloose in Stellenbosch is an invitation to a leisurely stroll through the leafy streets of this old town to savour its charm, to explore its rich architectural variety and to meet the personalities who have built its houses and its history over three hundred years.

Your guides are Ters van Huyssteen, whose knowledge of the town and its history is as great as his love for it, and Hannes Meiring, architect and artist, who with equal devotion sketched more than seventy buildings and drew twelve street maps. There is much to explore, for Stellenbosch has perhaps a greater number of historical monuments than any other South African town.

In this revised edition the visitor will find the glossary of personalities and terms most helpful. The appendix contains information on the Stellenbosch wine route, and the museums, hotels, guest houses, restaurants, art galleries and national monuments in the town.
