This medal was issued to commemorate for the Service in the National Emergency in May 1926, the General Strike. It is made by Ernest Gillick in England in 1926.
Gillick (1874-1951) was a sculptor and medallist, who had studied at the Nottingham School of Art. Much of his works was in the form of busts, statuettes, reliefs and decorative objects as well as medals.
The General Strike was a national strike that lasted ten days, from 3 May 1926 to 13 May 1926, initiated by the General Council of the Trades Union Congress (TUC).
