For the connoisseur collector - SAP 1st Pattern and 2nd Pattern Camo Coverall Combo. Up for your consideration is a rare, 1970s-era South African Police (SAP) 1st Pattern camouflage coverall or overall. The SAP 1st Pattern camouflage was developed in the late 1960s and features a unique 'pinwheel' shape in its design, along with a distinctive 'smearing' of green dye. Many of these early uniforms were manufactured in Rhodesia. The SAP later transitioned to the more familiar 2nd Pattern camouflage in the early 1980s, and by the 1990s, nearly all original 1st Pattern uniforms had disappeared. Finding items in the original SAP 1st Pattern camouflage today is quite rare. This coverall is a single-piece outfit with a full zip front, zippered chest pockets, elastic cuffs, a back waist, slash handwarmer pockets, and open leg cuffs. The size is 48, which is also very rare, and the Mooi Maak company, a renowned manufacturer of military uniforms, made it. This coverall is in mint condition and appears to have never been used, as the colors are crisp and vibrant. Overall, it is in excellent condition. The camouflage graphic design relief is detailed, and the material is in good order with no holes or repairs. All closure and adjustment zippers are present and function properly. The elasticated wrist cuffs and all pockets and linings are complete. The manufacturer's label is evident, confirming that the item is unused and never issued.
Additionally, we have a SAPS coverall in the 2nd Pattern camouflage issued during the 1980s. This item is also unused, unissued, and in mint condition. Unfortunately, the SAP 2nd Pattern coverall has no label, but it is marked as a size 38 (large). The opportunity to own both of these coveralls in unused and unissued condition and mint state is a rare find.
If you are a collector, this is a combo you don't want to miss out on. You would be one of only a few privileged collectors to own both from different time periods in mint condition.
