Shelby Collectibles 1/18 model of an absolute brute of a car, the 7-litre Ford GT40 Mk2 which won LeMans in 1966 after battle royal with the Ferrari P3/4s subject of the recent film;- Ford vs Ferrari"
With opening doors; bonnet and engine cover, the model is well detailed and captures the pure aggression of the car.
After Ford had failed to win LeMans in 1964/65 with the first iteration of the GT40, they comprehensively re-engineered the car with Carrol Shelby and arrived at LeMans with a sledgehammer of a car.
Ford duly finished 1-2-3 but the victory was marred by Ford trying to engineer a photo finish which resulted in the leading car of Miles/Hulme being beaten by the McLaren/Amon car.
Ken Miles, who had a fractious relationship with Ford, believed the win was deliberately orchestrated and Miles was killed in a testing accident a few months later tragic.
This model is a generic version of the Ford GT40 Mk2.
Mint condition and supplied in its original box also in mint condition.
