Fine model of the monstrous 7.0litre Ford GT40 MkIV which did battle with the Ferrari P4s to win the 1967 Le Mans. Driven by Dan Gurney and AJ Foyt. It was and remains the only American designed and built car to win Le Mans.
After the Ford GT40 MkII won Le Mans in 1966, Ford took the race programme back to the USA and developed a newer version of the MkII - dubbed the J-Car - with a new chassis and more aerodynamic bodywork. The J-Car was initially unstable and killed test and development driver Ken Miles. It was then revised as the GT40 MkIV and Ford put their faith in this car as well as entering MkIIs at Le Mans.
Four MkIVs were entered but all suffered troubles and only the Gurney/Foyt car ran unhindered to win chased by two Ferraris.
In excellent condition and supplied in the original box - also excellent condition. Essential model for Le Mans or Ford fans.
From my private collection.
