FOSSIL 70MM LONG TRILOBYTE (AT LEAST 230 MILLION YEARS OLD) STILL IN ROCK FORMATION

THIS IS AN 70MM LONG FOSSILIZED TRILOBITE STILL IN ITS ROCK POSITION AS IT WAS FOUND.
Trilobytes is an extinct group of arthropods (outer scheleton) that lived in the seas of the world more than 230 million years ago. It died out around the Jurassic period but survided for around 380 million years on the earth making them one of the most successful species in history. They are amazing animals we only know about from fossils.
With over 15000 species identified they range from 1mmlong to over 750mm long but most is in the 30mm to 80mm range.
You can see from the specimen they have two compound eyes consisting of many small lenses. Same as crustaceons and insects of today.
They continue to fascinate people and there are many things about them scientists still find to be a mystery.
CONDITION: Good. Still as it was found in rock fossilized. Still has some rock sediment that must be cleared away. Has a hole near the tail end (or pygidium) where a small piece of the fossil has been chipped away.
Size Trilobyte: 70mm long 40mm wide
