THIS A BEAUTIFULLY PRESERVED, 15,5CM LONG FOSSIL FROM THE LOWER TURONIAN AGED, MARINE DEPOSITS NEAR THE TOWN OF GOULMIMA, MOROCCO. AGE CRETACEOUS - 100 MILLION YEARS.
THE FISH IS PRESERVED IN A DETAILED 3 DIMENSIONAL MANNER AND A LOT OF DETAIL IS PRESENT INCLUDING MANY OF THE SMALL SCALES, AND FINS.
I'M NOT CONFIDENT ON THE ID OF THIS FISH BUT I BELIEVE IT'S MAYBE OF THE GENUS GOULMIMICHTHYS WHICH IS AN EXTINCT GENUS OF RAY-FINNED FISHES COMMONLY FOUND INMOROCCO.
SIZE: 15,5CM LONG 5CM WIDE 3,5CM HIGH
CONDITION: IN VERY GOOD CONDITION. ALSO PART OF MY PERSONAL COLLECTION FOR 20 YEARS. WELL TAKEN CARE OFF.
FISH SPECIES: GOULMIMICHTHYS IS AN EXTINCT GENUS OFRAY-FINNED FISHES. THE GENUS NAME GOULMIMICHTHYS IS A COMBINATION OFTHE GREEK ICHTHYS, "FISH" AND GOULMIMA THE CITY IN MOROCCO WHERE THE HOLOTYPE FOSSILS WERE FOUND.
