Volume 2 has reports on the excavations at Mapungubwe and Bambandyanalo in the Northern Transvaal in 1935 to 1940 by Captain Guy A. Gardner. Due to World War 2 and later evidence this volume was only completed under the direction of the University of Pretoria 20 years later in 1963.
