Christine's story...
The story of the African Lion is a sad story of disappearing territory as man moves in on his range. A hundred years ago there were approximately 300 000 lions roaming the plains of Africa. Now there are only around 20 000. To add to this unravelling story the Chinese and Vietnamese nations use lion bones in a variety way as an all cure elixir where lion bones are soaked in a wine and it is as such in high demand in these countries. This has caused a huge crisis for lions who are not only under siege by herders who are grazing their cattle in lion territory but also have to deal with the the march of time. Lions are in acute danger of becoming extinct if we do not intervene. I hope that through this image I will bring home to the viewer this crisis and hope that they will help me to spread the awareness that we need to do something about this sad state of affairs.
