My wife bought these 2 paintings in 1999 from a person in Bloemfontein for R 5000 each and is very close to her heart but we have to let them go.

Frans Claerhout was a self taught painter - born in Belgium. His artworks characterised by their warm colours, thick impasto paint, exaggerated forms, humour and

compassion were exhibited widely. I bought these mother and child paintings in 1998. After his death in 2006 his art became more valuable.
