FreeStyle Libre 2 Sensor Continuous Glucose Monitor
The FreeStyle Libre 2 Sensor is a small wearable continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) sensor designed to provide glucose readings throughout the day and night.
The sensor is worn on the back of the upper arm and sends glucose readings to a compatible smartphone using the FreeStyle LibreLink app. Readings are updated every minute.
Each sensor can be worn for up to 14 days, providing a convenient way to view glucose readings, trends and historical data.

Abbott states that the sensor can be worn while showering, swimming or exercising, subject to its water-resistance limits.
Optional Glucose Alarms
The FreeStyle Libre 2 system offers optional alerts for:
- Low glucose
- High glucose
- Signal loss
These alarms can be configured through the compatible FreeStyle LibreLink app. The phone must remain within the required range of the sensor for alarm notifications to be received.
Smartphone Compatibility
The FreeStyle Libre 2 Sensor can be used with the FreeStyle LibreLink app on compatible mobile devices.
Compatibility depends on the phone model and operating system, so customers should confirm device compatibility with Abbott before purchasing.
How to Use
- Select an appropriate area on the back of the upper arm.
- Clean and dry the skin according to the application instructions.
- Apply the sensor using the supplied applicator.
- Start the sensor using a compatible smartphone or reader.
- Replace the sensor after up to 14 days.
Abbott recommends following the full product instructions supplied with the sensor.

Finger Pricks
The FreeStyle Libre 2 system is designed to provide glucose readings without routine finger-prick testing. However, Abbott advises that finger-prick testing may still be required when sensor readings or alarms do not match symptoms, or in certain situations indicated by the system.
Water Resistance
The sensor is water resistant and can be worn during normal daily activities.
Abbott states that the sensor is water resistant in up to 1 metre of water for up to 30 minutes.
